Crick Primary School

Diane Boon

Hello, my name is Diane Boon, known as Di, and I am the Chair of Governors here at Crick School.

As a family we moved to Crick from a village in Kent in 1989 when our children were aged 9, 7 and 3.  We enrolled them into Crick Primary and they thrived under the expert hands of the then Headteacher, Mrs Frances Start.  They all moved on to Guilsborough School and then to university and now are all gainfully employed in their chosen careers.  The good start at Crick was essential to their further development.

I was also involved in Crick School when employed as Bursar for a few years in the 90s.  I was an active member of the newly formed FOCS group when funds were essential to purchase curriculum resources.  I then moved into secondary education working as Business Director of a school in Northampton.  In 2005 I started work on a brand new secondary school in Milton Keynes, the school was successfully built, gained ‘outstanding’ status by Ofsted and is now a ‘through school’ with children joining in Reception and going through to the 6th form.  An exciting project to end my working life on, I am now enjoying retirement but keeping busy, particularly with our grandchildren.  They do not attend Crick Primary but I take a keen interest in their education.

I understand the needs of a school, particularly in areas such as finance, HR, IT, health and safety and administration.  The primary curriculum less so but we are fortunate to have a Vice Chair, Mrs Ruth Sulley, who is a retired primary school Headteacher so therefore fills any gaps in my knowledge but I am learning quickly!
