SSP Football Finals Report

On Thursday 22nd October, Crick's Year 5 & 6 football team travelled to Kingsbrook School in Deanshanger to take part in the district's SSP finals, a reward for their win in the Guilsborough Cluster Tournament.

They got off to a dream start, beating both Wootton and Old Stratford 1-0. A goalless draw with Towcester followed, meaning that victory in the final group match with The Grange would have seen Crick win their group. Unfortunately it was not to be as an early goal edged out Crick, and saw them finish 3rd in the group, narrowly behind Grange who had scored one goal more!

Crick went into the 5th/6th place play-off against Hackleton, who had finished 3rd in the other group. Crick were narrowly beaten 1-0, resulting in a final position of 6th, out of 10 schools who took part.

This is a terrific achievement for the boys who were competing against many bigger schools. The lads gave tremendous effort and played all the games in a good spirit. Well done to all of you for your achievements!

The squad was: Calum Mackay, George Fairbrother, Jack Anscombe, Jamie Kerr, Josh Bardell, Lachlan Pidgeon, James Gibbins, Euan Mackay, Stuart Taylor, George Cantwell.

Finally, a huge thanks to the parents who helped transport the lads up and down the A5 and who gave the boys terrific support.

Our new hedgehog house

Our new natural hedgehog house was kindly donated. We found a safe and quiet site and tried to disguise the house in the hope that a hedgehog will scrabble inside. Did you know around 25% of hedgehogs do not survive from one year to the next partly because they have no safe habitat. We have provided some food, and water and wont revisit it now until next year. We can help hedgehogs to survive by not using slug pellets and pesticides in the garden.

Dance Club

Welcome to Dance Club!

In Autumn 1 term, Dance Club is open to Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. In Autumn 2 term, our group is open to Year 3 pupils. Maximum number is 16.
If you would like to join or go on the waiting list, please see Mrs. Hupfield. We meet at 11.45 on Thursday lunchtimes, in Orange Class.
We warm up, practise dance skills such as circling, skipping, hand-holds and partner moves, as well as learning set dances – this term Circassian Circle, Pat-a-cake Polka and Miss Zudio.
We hope to demonstrate our dances to the older people at the village hall in November.
(If anyone in the village remembers any local dances or chants to teach the group then we would love to hear from you!)
