‘Wotta Lotta Bother’ Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th July at 6:30 p m
This is the title for the Blue and Indigo Classes production this term. I am sorry that the performance dates have had to be changed but it has been extremely difficult to try and fit all our school events in this term.
Final Reports
You will receive a final report on your child’s progress for this year, next week. The children have been assessed by their teachers and are given effort grades. The children have also been given a level of achievement. A table showing an indication of the age level expectations for each year group for the end of a school year can be found overleaf.
Pupils in the Foundation Stage have a different scale.
Parents/Carers’ Evaluation 2009-2010
We are always interested to know how to improve our school. So, please take a few minutes and complete an evaluation sheet for this school year. You should find the sheet with your child’s report. All the pupils will be asked to complete a similar survey. This information is important to us as it helps us to formulate our next School Development Plan for the year to come. Thank you.
Speedmark Challenge
Forms are being returned to those children yet to bring in their sponsorship money. Please send into school by Wednesday, 14th July.

KS2 Sports Day
All KS2 children will again be asked to wear a T-shirt in the colour of their House for Sports’ Day next Tuesday 13th July. Children will need to be prepared for hot weather, (sun-hat, water bottle, sun tan cream applied), and a wet weather top in case of a sudden downpour. Parents and carers are very welcome to join us down the Village playing fields. We aim to be leaving school at about 9:15am ready for a 9:30am start. Parents would need to provide their own chairs/blankets to sit on. Let’s hope for reasonable weather.
Summer Reading Challenge
If you access the website: www.northamptonshire.gov.uk.srcevents you will find out about this and several other events taking place in the County’s libraries. If you are 4 to 12 years old and enjoy your reading, then pick up a ‘Space Hop’ leaflet from your local library and join in the fun!
FOCS' end of year BBQ
This year's BBQ will be held on the last day of term, Friday July 23rd, from 6pm. Following last year's success, live music will again be provided by ‘Aday’. Please see the leaflet for more details.
Year 5/6 Rowing and Crazy-Ball
Last Thursday, 8 children from year 5 and 6 represented the school at the above event held at Guilsborough School. They took part in two separate competitions against 5 other schools from our cluster. In crazy-ball, Crick beat Welford and West Haddon in their group matches before being beaten by Guilsborough in the final. In the rowing, the 8 children had to row 20 minutes between themselves, achieving an impressive 4075m, just 35m behind the winners, Clipston. Well done to all 8 children who competed well and enjoyed the opportunity to take part. The 8 children were: Lachlan Pidgeon, Jamie Kerr, Jay Crocker, Drew Parker, Megan Tew, Cameron Butt, Ciaran Bennion and Tommy Mayo.

Outdoor Athletics Day – National Sports Week
Last Friday, Indigo class ran 4 separate events on our school field. Children from each class took part in a hurdles challenge, a giant ball throw, a standing long jump and a target ball game. Some excellent skills were shown from all classes and I think that our athletics teams could be very strong for the next few years! Well done to Indigo Class for working so nicely with the other classes, and for organising the events so well.
We did record the attempts at each event from 4 of our classes and worked out a score for each house based on averages taken from each class. The overall positions were:
1. Rhinos
2. Elephants
3. Giant Pandas
4. Tigers
Well done to all children who took part and a big thank you to all staff. These days can often disrupt other parts of your timetable, so thank you for rearranging your day!

District Sports Track Events
On Tuesday, a group of 19 children in Years 3-6 travelled to Daventry Sports Park to compete in the 79th South Northants District Sports. They competed in sprinting and relay events against a number of other schools.
On an individual level, Beth Sinclair had the greatest success in the Year 6 girls 80m sprint, winning the final and coming away with the trophy. In the relays, a special word to our Year 6 girls team, which apart from Beth, was made up of Year 5 pupils. Despite finishing 3rd out of 4 in their heat they put in an excellent performance against children a year older than themselves.
Unfortunately we didn’t challenge for honours overall but all children who attended tried very hard and again showed a good attitude.
Thank you to all parents and carers who gave up their time to support/transport the children.
