Everdon Experience

This week we have been to the Everdon Activities Centre.  When we arrived we explored the dormitories and chose our bunk beds.  We were lucky because we all got a top bunk! After lunch we went animal tracking in Everdon Stubbs.  We found lots of badger setts, and their toilets!  There were also deer, rabbit, squirrel, mouse and horse tracks to follow.  That night some of us went on a night walk and saw sheep in a ditch!

On Tuesday we were up at 7.00am, an early start for some of us!  We went to Mantles Heath in the minibus and made some amazing shelters, one even had a campfire.  After that we saw all the dogs and horses on a hunt.  Grace was lucky and found a horseshoe.  After a long walk back we had lunch, played team building games and then had a relaxing evening at the centre.

On Wednesday morning we did a little souvenir shopping then headed out to the woods to do some more tracking games.  We set salt tracks for the people in the group to follow.

We all had a brilliant time and enjoyed being allowed to get really muddy!!

By Year 4

I was very proud of all the children who came to Everdon.  They braved the cold and we all had an excellent time.  Their behaviour and attitude was brilliant and they represented our school really well.

Well done and thank you for an enjoyable residential

South Northants and Daventry SSP Indoor Athletics Finals

Our indoor athletics team will be competing at this event on Thursday, 9th February between 2.00 and 3.30 p.m.  They will be competing against Brixworth, Welton and Bugbrooke.  Letters have finally been sent out today after arrangements for the finals were changed a number of times during the week, resulting in a lot of old letters ending up in the scrap paper drawer!

Excess Furniture

Due to receiving a grant from the Baker-Gazeley Group last year, we have been able to purchase replacement dining tables and chairs.  We have octagonal tables, stacking padded tubular chairs and stacking plastic chairs available.  If you are interested in making us an offer, please call into the school office.

Out of This World!

On Monday children in Red, Orange and Yellow classes were treated to a day that was Out of This World!  In classes we discussed planets and stars, went on a moonwalk and sung a song about a ‘Rockin’ Robot’.  Each class then had the opportunity for two sessions in the Space Dome led by Josh Barker from the National Space Centre.  The experience in the Dome allowed the children to learn about the constellations in the night sky, stories from Greek and Egyptian mythology and how to spot the North Star!

Maths Time!

OK then all you adults; it’s time to test that grey matter!  I’m sure that you all got last week’s answer, which was of course 20.  The week’s teaser is:

Sarah had a bag of cherries.  She ate 5 cherries and then gave half of what she had left to Liam.  Liam ate 5 of his cherries, then  gave half of what he had left to Amy.  Amy got 2 cherries.  How many cherries did Sarah have in her bag at the start?

Enjoy

Birthday Bellringers

I must apologise for missing some of the children’s birthdays from the list.  Following a short investigation, a ‘glitch’ was discovered in the Schools Information Management software.  Hopefully, the problem has been resolved, and all the birthdays are now included.

Happy birthday to the following children who celebrated their birthdays this week:

Ben Childs, Joshua Potts, Georgie Heath, James Needham and Bebe Pidgeon
