Science Week 2007

On 15th March all the children and staff marked National Science and Engineering week by taking part in a morning of Science Investigations.

We looked at the theme of water:- Key Stage 1 worked with Mrs Hupfield to find out the best way to soak up a ‘puddle’ made by a naughty puppy!

With Mrs Cunnington, children investigated how water changes things. And with Mrs Dugdale they investigated which materials are good at floating and sinking.

In Key Stage 2 the children split into their House Groups. Mr Bushell worked with the children to find the best shaped boat to hold a number of marbles. Mrs Brook used ice cubes, and string and investigated what happens when you add salt. Mrs Hutchings challenged the children to see how many drops of water they could fit on a 1 pence piece. And Miss Brook had an explosive time with lemonade and pieces of fruit and pasta!

We all had a fantastic time – learning lots about water, working with others and most importantly enjoying SCIENCE!
